The Urbanihof winery is located in Austria in the Wagram near Fels. The Danube flows through here. There is a unique climate here, where cool nights alternate with very warm days and the vines are always well ventilated by the wind. This brings fresh and juicy fruit with lively acidity to the wines.
The Paschinger family has been managing the winery for 11 generations, a family tradition dating back to 1598. The focus at Urbanihof is on white wine, particularly the Austrian flagship variety Grüner Veltliner, which produces particularly good wines on the winery's loess soils.
The winery has been certified organic since 2016. The vineyards are densely planted to ensure healthy competition between the plants. Yields are deliberately kept low. Intensive soil and leaf work guarantee the best ripening conditions for the grapes. The vines are at their best age, the oldest up to 40 years old, so they are real "old vines".
For five years now, the farm has been producing its own compost from horse manure and pomace, which it then spreads back on the vineyards. The farm's own compost means that all artificial fertilizers are replaced with natural raw materials.
